Well it seems all we do is attack that which has been branded Americana. Perhaps this si due to the marketing of the BMW Mini? We are attacking SUVs calling them ozone killers, people crushers, roll-over dogs? Would Jesus, drive one? Well if Jesus were alive today he would first turn off his TV set and then have a few words with all the hypocrites using his name to promote their own agendas. Perhaps Brand Indentity Theft and Trade Dress are in play here although he never did register his name with teh PTO and therefore cannot claim to be Jesus anyway? We see NASA Scientists poking fun at an SUV by spinning it around in a centrifuge http://www.evworld.com/databases/shownews.cfm?pageid=news240403-06 , sounds like a good use of time, and comic relief, but this is suppose to prove what? That if the SUV made a 8g Turn that it would probably flip over? No really? And what about the baby slobber, talk about a job for window cleaning car wash guys? Yesterday night on the Boob Tube they discussed the eight poor performing side impact SUVs, by ramming the crap out of them at high speed in a test. Sure it similates the driver's in MESA, AZ and the most common accident, with the screwed up left turn signals and the highest insurance accident rates in the country, but I suppose next we will drop one into orbit and wait unitl it burns up in the Earth's Atmosphere on re-entry at 18,000 miles per hour or as it reaches Mach 15. http://www.consumersunion.org/products/oral-tire.htm Then we can get everyone to buy a Volvo with side impact airbags, automatice rollover sensor deployment and TRW and the seatbelt industry can see how to make them bullet proof. How about teaching people to drive in Baltimore, PHX, Miami, Tampa, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas for Pete's sake? I swear one of these days I am going to start a combination driving school with free cracker Jax boxes with driver's license prizes, I do not know where people get these licenses? And why a driver's license when half the population can have a kid raise him/her to be out of control Prozac maniacs then they drive starting at 16? Help. SUVs don't kill people, people kil people. Since when is the operator of a vehicle not responsible for the way they drive, yet we do studies to prove vehicles are unsafe without addressing the real issues and all the while allow class action attorneys ot sue large companies and hurt stock prices and thus the underfunded pensions issues are compounded as last look 6 trillion dollars are still missing from the shareholders equity before the recent recession. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration publically attacked the consumer saying that the drivers were self absorbed, disinterested in the community and forcing the US to be more dependent on foriegn oil. Well that is interested because the liberal media was happy to pick up that comment and because it fits their liberal agenda and mass media hyper-hysteria of terrorists and calamity to imporve ratings and keep you glued in controvery. There is no one more self absorbed than the liberal driving BMW, Mercedes, 62' Volvo Wagon, VW crowd, who keeps Americans from having jobs and our dependence on trade deficits. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A6952-2003Jun17.html?nav=hptoc_b Now people in SUVs are so concerned with rollovers that they will not buy a Ford Explorer, the top SUV selling vehicle in the prior decade and that folks represents American Jobs, and it was not even an SUV issues, it was a tire issue. Sure the two-door model was short coupled and any pilot who has ever flown a Rayan, Luscomb or GeeBee racer would agree that the design warrants extra care, but look waht people did with them. Two-Door Explorers are short coupled and usually purchased by singles who drive faster and take more driving risks, like ot get airborne a little over railroad tracks, merge at high speed and stay on the gas. And wasn't it the consumer who voted with their dollars for V-8 engines in Jeep Cherokees and Exlorers. Wanted to surpass the Jones's as the WSJ full page Lincol Navigator Ads showed in 1999-2001? Then the Excursion your basic Urban Assult BUS, would not fit in any garage. And the Yukon, Suburban which even the US Government's secret service bought because it was classy, cool looking in dark colors, had balls, intimidation and a safety factor. Why is all these contradiction in terms surfacing now? This is a rehash of the Cadellac VS Japanese Auto Maker Days, just a short two decade cycle of history, fads and thought processes. Same as Bell Bottom Genes. Of course a pendulum shift will mean everyone will now go out and buy more smaller cars and expect to pay more since their SUV was so expensive, they of course will eat the difference on the lease, be upside down and be convinced they should be driving a little hulk mobile Green Machine or Mini-Cooper remake big wheel size scooter. Looks like Segway only missed the game by about three feet? You know it is not as if Demming could not have seen this one coming. And these SUV side crash tests are preposterous, why not use the Mars Bouncing ball as soon as you hit the brakes and all of a sudden all the cars turn into a giant cluster F-@#% of balloons? And excuse me for saying so, but recently out side fo El Centro I rescued a guy in a car who had his airbag depolyed and could not get out of the car, his lungs filled with that flash powder and could barely breath, yah he had a seat belt on too. But that is not the only technology available, for the entire 160,000 years of mankinds evolution we have seen our brains become more adapted to our surroundings, perhaps people ought to think and observe and pay attention more to what is going on around them. http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/classifieds/automotive/5556747.htm ----- http://www.forbes.com/markets/newswire/2003/06/17/rtr1002368.html ------- Now with the latest group of findings the smaller SUV suck and the bigger ones are good, so the previous findings are to be considered bogus or is it the new ones which should prevail. So many tests about nothing, conflicting with each other and the same scenario with Fuel Cells, Global Warming. My Gosh anything to create a distraction of controversy. What would hte media do without Scott Peterson? Most Americans cannot even name two people who will be in this next election for President. Sure they can name one, the President, but they cannot name two, maybe Al Shaprten, but he doesn't have a chance in hell, well maybe in hell he might. ----- So what is the deal here should we or shouldn't we buy an SUV? I prefer to wash smaller cars like the VW Bug, whcih are a sinch to wash, like the Honda and Camry and Taurus, but do not buy one of those they are amoung the top stolen cars in the country? Really, no kidding they are also the top selling cars in the country so obviously with more on the road their is a greater chance of them being stolen? So much conflicting debris out there in the newspapers and media it is hard to say if anything is actually legit at all. Qestion everything. The whole deal is utterly bogus. What will be next? We now know it is McDonald's fault for obeciety, that the Cigarette Companies put a gun to your head and made you smoke, that your behavior can only be controlled by Prozac, that you need a larger Penis and can fix that by answering a SPAM email, that SUVs are controversial, Oreo Cookies kill kids. Gee Whiz, is this all the people on Earth in the greatest country on the Planet can think about. Have we sunken so far down into that this is it? Ouch. Some of the things discussed at parties, coffee shops, grocery store lines and with family are getting to be a little shallow. But whether or not you are afraid to buy an SUV or not is your choice, but it does not appear to be your free will. May as ask your 1-900 psychic, oh that's right they put here in jail because she was not actually a psychic? No kidding? This SUV thing is ridiculous, yes they take 1.3 times as long to cross the intersection, yes they burn more gas, yes they cause more damage in accidents, yes they are safer in an accident, yes they do not drive well upside down and round and round. So what is the point people. Please we need to move on about the SUV subject it has been beaten to death already. I guess no one wants to find the real news out. As if it would be real if they reported something else anyway? The Detail Guys charge more to wash SUVs, just thought you should know: http://www.detailguys.com/nw80.shtml ----- Now we wouldn't be surprised if someone says that is not fair just because I drive a black SUV and it is 105 degrees today you should not charge me more, it is not my fault the salesman at the dealership talked me into this SUV with XLT, DVD, XM, GPS, GIS, inflight phone, surround a sound option packages. I was taking lithium to cure my depression, because I had a bad hair day and was out of Prozac? Whatever?
