Nearly all of the Toll Ways in America have raised their rates. Eventhough everyone knows that "Increases in America's Toll Ways, Always Takes it's Toll on Americans", some of these increases are from stressed budgets, well at least this is the excuse from politicians who pass the buck and from bureaucrats who mis-manage public funds. Corporations are to be held to the highest of credibility and transperity, yet these colosal giant cluster muck DOT bureaucracies not only impeed traffic, but the cost small businesses, citizens millions in the process. How SO? Well first as cars idle to wait in line to pay toll, sometimes in large traffic jams for instance NJ turnpike to NYC, or NY to MASS Turnpike, or Okland Bay Bridge into San Fran. This causes excessive polution and clogged arteries (Infrastructure Type). The EPA does not control this pollution and instead attacks businesses to reduce. In many cities and states there are idling laws for truckers who could cause pollution such as IL, Onterio Canada, Los Angeles, CA, MA and other places. Some say these laws are good and help curb pollution, event the DOT prohibits the idling at many rest stops, the same DOT which allows traffic to snarl up and cause pollution http://www.sootoday.com/content/editorial/archived_editorials.asp?EN=2248 ----- Many years ago I worked on a committe in the 38 billion dollar in the red state of California. We worked with the TMAs - Transportation Management Associations and tried to figure out ways to get people to car pool, which did not work all that well, but worked a little which was good. Back in 1975 the air in CA was pretty bad, and would probably look like it does today in Mexico City had it not been for the volunteer efforts of many companies and the hard work of many solution providers. I cannot say I or anyone else in any of these committees made any major significant level of contribution. But I can say together everyone and every company did a little and that did a lot. Especially in regions with temperature inversions and boxed in by mountain terrain. If you look at the DC Salad Bowl (mixing bowl) "how about pollution bowl cluster muck?" you see a great opportunity for free parking, nothing moves everyone is stuck, construction abounds to add more lanes to the mess? Hmmm? Is this really a sign of all the brilliant minds running our country? Ouch, sorry George Mason, we have not been able to keep your vision of which there can be no excuse. http://195.194.93.120/zickus_belgirate.pdf and http://crazynut.theshoppe.com/feature-weather3.html . What is so funny is that the turnpikes have raised their fees by a little more than their standard amount this year. Why? They say the states need money and they need money to fix the roads? First of all the states need money because the small businesses are strapped for time to complete the days work to make enough money to pay taxes because of the grid lock caused by inconvinient on ramps, lack of on ramps, city street congestion caused by those who cannot afford to keep paying the toll, thus the small businesses make no money for which there is no income tax to be paid and they cannot hire additional labor so less people have jobs. But the DOT in CT for instance has built a beautiful "Screw You and Me" glass building with our money? What is going on here? And the roads are bumpy than ever and people at Comedy Central do nothing but makes jokes about it as if what really goes on during rush hour traffic is not enough of a joke. You pay money to drive on screwed up roads to get near where you want to be while the roads and bumps break your car and your equipment and then you wait in line for a chance to pay them for such a wonderful service? Please, Thomas Paine help me out here, because from where I am parked on this so called express way there seems to be an unparalleled lack of common sense. Yes it is uncommon, but how can the masses stand for this unbelievable irony? The DOT and EPA wish to regulate the amount of pollution your car puts out and then put their own toll both collectors at risk each day from unneccessary intakes of carbon monoxide and say see "We are providing jobs" What? You are killing people and causing more pollution, dummies. If the toll booths in America were taken down tomorrow and the flow of efficiency was returned to you and I and our families, businesses and own government, everyone would be more productive and therefore more people would be employed and pay into the system and therefore more money for the states for all services including roads, more money in the pockets of American's, less pollution, less lung disease, lower health care costs for SENIORS as if they are all that matters what about their grand kids obviously they are equally as concerned there. Why is it that we as Americans cannot see the forest for the trees. When you raise the toll from $1.00 to 1.35 it takes longer for the person in the car to get the right change and longer for the toll booth operator to make change and therefore causes increased traffic. If the Dulles Greenway Privately run toll way cannot make money and has never been profitable, what on God's little blue planet makes politicians and bureaucrats believe they are profitable? They are not. People in the past have said that Americans are enslaved economically. Enslaved to the dollar that is. Others have said such as the Futurists that in the future machines will surpass the human beings capabilities of intelligence and that we will be enslaved to the computer minds of machines. Perhaps this is a possible future as depicted in Terminator III and various science fiction movies and novels. But the biggest travesty in the World is to be enslaved to a bunch of rebarb and concrete. Think of it we are working for the concrete, that concrete is not working for us. We are enslaved to the stupidest material. A friggin road? How can we be so stupid as to serve a piece of concrete which was built to serve us? We live and work to serve infrastructure. We pay money to a system which loses money so that we can poison ourselves with noxious gases, be made less efficient and productive, lose precious time and we accept that? Why? Why does America and the smartest group of homo-spaien culture in the world accept this as being acceptable? We are allowing our lives to be controlled and our time obscounded with by a piece of concrete built on dirt, which does not go where we need it too, takes extra time to get too the on-ramps, slows down and impeeds progress and inhibits the forward progress of mankind in this important time period in our human experience. That is unacceptable. What is difficult to fathom is that everyone thinks there is nothing they can do about it, it is just the way it is? That somehow "They" cannot be changed? Well "They" is us. We are the government, we call the shots, we are allowing us to screw us over and worship a concrete "ROAD", not a statue, pyramid, giant cross, no, nothing more than a road. And we gladly accept this and feed the damn thing money every single day simply so we may be inconvinienced by it. The recent increases across the country from Detroit to Canada, Sam Houston Express Way, Bay Bridge, CT, NY, PA, NJ, VA, MA, ME, NH, OH, MI, IL, IN, etc. turnpikes is in counter to the so-called deflationary tendencies of our local situation as described in the Beige Sheets by the FED. If we are not having any inflation then why are they increasing the costs? Why? The fees should be lowered and the turnpikes should be eliminated. They are squandering the money and polluting our children and teenage soccer players, this is destroying our minds, lungs and irrating those who have degenerative diseases, allergies and health conditions through no fault of their own. It is poisoning our people, costing us money, inhibiting economic prosperity all for the so-called assistance to the "CONCRETE" Are we on drugs? What are we thinking here? Those bumpy roads which we have to go out of our way to use and over pay to drive on? So why do I care? Why is has this become person to me? It affects the productivity and viability of us to service our customers with mobile detailing http://www.detailguys.com ---- But also recently we had our blitzmobile battered by the unnessary curb sized pot holes and bumps of the NY Turnpike which we paid a total of $42.00 for the privledge to drive on. Some friggin privledge. That is extorsion and terrorism to your self, your family and to your hard earned personal property. In CT someone else is upset; http://www.oz.net/~azraelle/rant1.html ----- http://www.randyrants.com/archives/000083.asp ------ It is interesting that so many people worship the history of these roads http://www.knoxcotn.org/history/rule/chap14.html ---- When in fact the entire concept ougth to be history. http://www.kurumi.com/roads/ct/i95.html ----- And I am not alone, we are pissed by the nerve of these people and equally upset that at the preposterous notion that this is just the way it is and nothing can be done. http://www.users.nac.net/jmp/tollfree/ezpass.html We believe something can be done, but that no politician has the balls to do it. The one who finally goes against the grain and stands up for what is right will be a politician who is one of us, who believes in America and what this country stands for. My name is Lance Winslow and thanks for listening.
