Well looks like the Japanese have a pretty interesting plan to prevent accidents in the fog or rear end collisions. For instance recently in Maryland in the fog there was a huge 40 car pile-up. And on NJ toll-ways ever since they invented EZ Pass System, where the vehicles slow to about 5 mph, the number of rear end collisions have gone up 40%. And in the stop and go traffic in Houston, Miami, Dallas, CA and Seattle, insurance rates are nearly as high as East Valley Pheonix now. Why? Traffic accidents. Now mind you this new innovation by Honda is cool enough but not available in the states just yet. It warns the driver from 300 feet by applying the brake and tightening the safety belt. It will not stop the car, but warns you by way of radar, similar to the units now available by Chrysler. Apparently the steriotyping of oriental-Americans maybe off limits with regards to the driving abilities or eye sight here in America, but in Japan they realize it is a serious contention and are willing to throw away the politically correct notions of everyone has equal eye sigth at birth and go reality based on their major decisions for where to put their innovation and R and D monies. Here are some articles you maybe interested in? This article explains the Japanese unit which is now offerd on Honda's built and sold only in Japan, 100 meters warning distance, called the "E-Pretensioner": http://www.waitnews.com/honda_collision_prevention.htm ----- Also good so they do not bump into our work trucks http://www.ewashguy.com
