We have been talking to several teachers across the country who have been teachers for many years and they are indicating to us that newer teachers out of school with degrees enter into the teaching field actually assuming that teaching is a 7am-3pm job and then you go home. actually teaching takes many more hours of grading, preparing, thinking and setting up the plan. Newer teachers seem to be entering the field and finding it takes a lot of hours that they did not expect and therefore quit within 3-4 years. Whereas I am sure many of us have happened by chance to meet a teacher who is still teaching which was teaching or even taught us over 20 years ago. The difference is an absolute reflection of the sign of the workforce, copability and responsibility of our workforce and society as a whole. This is sad in that it shows that a lack or repsonsibility on those which are in charge of our next generations future. Such substandard work ethic in which no one is responsible to anything and everyone is has an excuse for everything is hurting our future progress and the torch is passed to the next generation. I cannot for the life of me figure out how a teacher of the grades or even HS can come to the conclusion that the job they are setting out for is a job requiring only the minimum of 7am-3pm with no other duties associated. Is this because our teachers of the X'ers simply were baby sitting and really did not teach us much or our kids much and now they believe that it is acceptable behavior to put in the least possible and reap the rewards associated with a teaching career? I am concerned with this behavior and that the older teachers have to see these newer teachers coming in and doing a half a _ _ job and get away with it and even believe that it is acceptable. it is not. We have talked with teachers in CA, AZ, OH, NH, GA and many other places and cities in each of those places telling us stories. if you wish to verify this information ask any teacher with tenure or longevity what they think of this comment. They will surely tell you, things are not what they use too. If America is to blaze the trail into the future we must have a strong backbone when it comes to lower level education. our eductaional system is accumulative and after each passing year you go onto learn more. If your educational foundation is weak then so is our future bleak. Car Wash Guys use car wash fundraisers as a way for kids to learn teamwork and responsibility in a social and real environment which pertains to their world, we are proud to do this and are doing our part. http://www.carwashguys.com/fundraisers/LAschools.html
