Don’t let this rain fool you; there is still quite an issue with water. http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/stories/2002/12/09/daily22.html?f=et50 Where is the drought still worrisome? CO for one, but also MT, WY, NE, ND, SD, KS, NM, parts of eastern TX. --- -- - - -- - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Water Quality in Wichita KS http://www.bizjournals.com/wichita/stories/2002/12/09/daily4.html?f=et88 And I would say that places like Lake Meade and other large bodies of water which are used for our fresh water supply are also in danger due to smaller volumes of water and equal pollution means more dense contamination which can cause serious problems like is happening in the Slaton Sea now. US Filter is working on it, and has some solutions, but is anybody really listening? -------------- - - --- - - -- - --- - - -- - - - California Deficit; http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2002/12/16/daily52.html?f=et79 Is so out of control I predict 25 billion by summer. And there are places there where road work has stopped but barriers have freeways down to one lane and no new money to be spent. Construction layoffs, broken roads and the CHP is out in force writing tickets to get more revenue. But there are safety issues now, with unsafe decision making in the middle of the worst El Nino and poor visibility and lots of slick roads. The lawyers will sue the shit out of CA and you know what? They deserve since there are so many attorneys. Well at least some of those lawyers might drown in CA? Prey for it. Snow and water supply for California maybe better soon; http://www.bizjournals.com/sacramento/stories/2002/12/16/daily39.html?f=et76 . Do not expect Car Wash Guys to do major anything in that state until they get their heads out of their asses. ------------------------ -- - - - - - - - - - - - - Well what about Texas? Lots of rain here. But even San Antonio is getting hit by lay offs. Just like Austin, Dallas and Houston. Not as bad as CA, but bad enough to be a big deal for many market sectors, yes we are doing okay, not breaking any records, but better than the ignorant competition. Unemployment is up in San Antonio. Interesting seeing as that is the best labor in the country, one of the fastest expanding markets and generally a relatively low cost of living. The Toyota plant deal killed by railroad union and will probably go to West Memphis. http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/stories/2002/12/16/daily25.html?f=et77
