Tampa Bay is in a world of hurt right now and about the worst business to be in is one which uses water. If it were not for the foresight of the Governors office and ability to move fast with De-salination technology Tampa would run the everglades, ground water and all fresh water supplies out. Luckily the plant is online, but with the building there and increased population of snow birds moving in and staying all year round, there are many concerns. Hurricane season looks like it might be early and deep this year but those waters come so fast they cannot be retained in catch basins as the incredible flow move a light spped through the channels and into the bay and Gulf of Mexico. --- http://www.nws.noaa.gov/oh/hic/current/drought/tbw.htm ---- I am not sure how many people realize the incredible job done by Jeb Bush and his team on this issue, but they truly are working with the populations there better than other parts of the country are. Perhaps it is for the love of all things Floridian or the supreme dedication of those brilliant minds who encompass the governors action team? What ever it is, it looks as if this crisis will end, but not without further tightening of the usage by the citizenry. http://fl.water.usgs.gov/Tampa/ ---- Before you take anyone's explanation of the drought seriously you may wish to subscribe to this group: http://www.cybervox.org/archive/stormreports/200101-200102/0074.html ----- http://fcit.usf.edu/florida/lessons/fl_gov/fl_gov1.htm . In some of the Western States they are starting to take notice too, http://www.drought.unl.edu/plan/direct.htm there is so much to do, it is so critical that proper BMPs are set in place to help us get through this together.
