Book Review- Business is Combat-A fighter pilots guide to winning in modern business warefare-By James D. Murphy.

Murphy was a Air National Guard F-15 Pilot and then ran a sales department after running sales in a family business.

The book is exciting and Murphy is quite a motivator, he appears as if he himself walks the walk. He takes us into the ready rooms and debriefing rooms of a mission. He talks of superiority, precision, tactics, intelligence and winning. He says business is combat not war. Because business is personal is won or lost with each additional customer.

He tells us of his experience with changes in tactics, weapons and competitors. He is a sales guy and each victory that results in a sale is compared to an arial dog fight. Every piece of training, equipment, team work between military agencies, system and enemy is compared to its counter part in the business world. He does a good job and does not BS in the book which is nice for a change as most seminar hosts are basically blowing smoke up your ass. He does not do that in this book.

I recommend this book to anyone who has ever watched the top gun movie, been in military, played impact sports and now finds themselves in a competitive business situation. It was easy to read, fun and real easy to relate too. The book has fun drawing analogies between a fighter pilot and a manager or entrepreneur or salesman. You will enjoy it and if you do not know anything about military aviation you will learn a little about that too.

He should be hired by the US Military to give speeches in colleges and High Schools to recruit new talent to our Military. He now calls his business After Burner Seminars. You can search this on the web in Yahoo, MSN or Alta Vista.
