Chrysler owners complaining about their car wash, too much acid? http://www.wam.umd.edu/~gluckman/Chrysler/CCD/KDPaint.html . These complaints are not unfounded we have always discussed this and have always been upset with the idea of acid washing a car “flashing” and then quickly rinsing it. I never have approved of that at all. To further streamline the car-washing process nearly 80% of the car washes in the country prompted by chemical vendors and industry associations of which there are 10 throughout the country (which we constantly monitor) started using Hydrofluoric Acid. Hydrofluoric Acid allowed these car washes to wash cars without excessive pre-washing or brushes. This sped up tunnel carwashes which could now wash cars in anywhere from 45 to 90 seconds start to finish. That was good for speeding up waiting time, but as you know it was it ruins the finishes on cars. This fact has prompted many detailing companies to tell customers not to go to car washes. Many manufacturers use to print in manuals do not go to a car wash, because they were afraid their paint jobs would not last. http://www.carwashguys.com/073102_2.shtml and http://www.carwashguys.com/competition76.shtml and http://www.carwashguys.com/072302_4.shtml .
