GI Trucking Expands on West Coast: http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/stories/2004/04/12/daily40.html?f=et80 This is interesting in many ways as the Economic Development Forces in WA state are PR’ing to death, it really is a very small event, but with all the bad news with Boeing and all the little related businesses it effected there has been quite a lot of generally poor news lately in WA state, as a personal observation, I believe in fact they have brought that negative PR on themselves. Luckily Microsoft is expected to add an additional 3000 people to it’s team in the next 2-3years which is a very positive sign in deed. We have washed for GI Trucking and they has always been a good customer during our encounters with them. Based in La Mirada they have offices across the West and subsidiary companies on the East Coast as well, after de-regulation they had explosive growth and made the switch while other companies did not and folded, another company Consolidated Freight had made it too, but then folded after increased cost cutting and 9-11 economic slow down, fuel prices and large haulers and competition took them out of the picture on Chapter 7, while Roadway and Yellow merged and Swift, JB Hunt and FedEX ground made huge strides against the middle of the road companies and medium sized LTL and Full Load National and Regional Carriers. Merger issues: http://www.parthe.net/_cwg900/000001db.htm . This recent fuel crunch is interesting in that it is going to again shake trucking to it’s core along with the Airlines, like Delta and American which are hurting, United too, but this TED project is promising. Today Continental Airlines looks as if it will acquire the Columbian Airline. Lots of things going on in the transportation business. The Flow of transportation http://www.parthe.net/_cwg1003/00000020.htm is crucial and it is affected to a large degree by fuel. http://www.parthe.net/_cwg1003/00000037.htm . We are seeing lots of mergers and price wars in both industries. Airlines against each other http://www.parthe.net/_cwg0703/0000004f.htm and trucks VS. Rail; http://www.parthe.net/_cwg0803/00000083.htm Independent trucking companies are also in trouble: http://www.parthe.net/_cwg1202/00000068.htm . We obviously pay close attention to these issues as they effect our various industry sectors: http://www.TruckWashGuy.com and http://www.AircraftWashGuys.com and http://www.OilChangeGuys.com and http://www.CarWashGuys.com .
