Taking care of waste oil when you are ready to recycle it can be a dilema, however if you play it smart you can easily fulfill your civic and planetary obligations to discharge used waste motor oil safely. Recycling or Disposing Waste Oil can be accomplished by contracting with a licensed transporter to pickup your waste oil for recycling or disposal. You are responsible for that operator and again documentation to control exposure to environmental laws are important. Craddle to grave policies do apply. If you are changing oil for a fleet you must give documentation to the customer so they can have a copy of what was done with the waste oil that left their property. You are required to give this to them for their craddle to grave oblgations as per EPA LAWS. Always Save bills of lading from your transporter for three years. If you live in a colder climate your shop or customers shops may request the used oil for furnace heating for their shops. Burn the waste oil in an approved space heater in your garage. If you would like to learn more about this the State of Vermont has some tips you may be interested in, call 1-800-974-9559 to obtain further informationincluding a list of transporters (VT) only or spaceheater requirements which are pretty much universal, yes even in California where all the bone heads and tree huggers are. Or you can learn more about this from the Oil Changing Guys Website. http://www.oilchangeguys.com
