Applications for used motor oil? Roads, Ships, re-refined, heating auto shops. What should you do with used motor oil? Well, probably not put it on the dirt roads to alleviate the dust or on weeds to kill them, that oil can end up in the water supply. One gallon of refined or used motor oil can contamite over 1 million gallons of fresh water, if it gets into the fresh water supply. Here are some easy answers to important questions you might have: http://www.recycleoil.org/usedoil_faqs.htm Also of importantance is the rules concerning these issues for do-it-your selfers and to those of us in the industry: http://www.moea.state.mn.us/reduce/oil.cfm . There are so many things we can do. http://www.reeusda.gov/success/impact00/newuses.htm . Also here is an overview of the target problem and a real way to help you understand it. http://www.vtr.org/maintain/oil-overview.html . And what do cities say should be done with waste oil? http://www.ci.watsonville.ca.us/publicworks/motor_oil_recycling.htm and http://www.bob2000.com/muni.htm . State of California has done much of this research. http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/UsedOil/Grants/Research/3rdCycle/ . This is all well and good you say? Right, yes sure but realize that there have been those of us who believe in doing the right thing. it is amazing how much the Oil Industry has done to recycle and re-use and refine and re-use again the oil that comes out of our motors. Recycling oil facts: http://www.in.gov/idem/oppta/recycling/education/facts.pdf . Academia as well us indsutry do agree that not only have we come a long way, the industry is finding entrepreneurial solutions to complex environmental issues. http://www.stanford.edu/group/Urchin/exp.htm and http://www.mcswmd.org/gbenvirofacts.html and this has made the World stand up and take notice and adopt these issues and move forward http://www.worldwise.com/recmotoil1.html .
